Recently, I have become impassioned with the desire to create a style of vocal expression that transcends the border of just jazz, or any of the other individual genres that I’ve experienced during my career. After months of thinking about how to accomplish this dream, the answer finally came to me. I have chosen songs that are not jazz standards - however they are bona fide standards in other genres and leant themselves to be interwoven with the musical threads of jazz.

These are familiar songs that I loved to sing “back in the day”. The arrangements are fresh, hard-grooving, and are engaging to the ear and, to the memory. They provoke the imagination!

I offer this CD to you in hopes that you too will enjoy and celebrate the results of the newly created vocal expression of Dee Daniels.

Dee Daniels has enviably succeeded in extending and vitalizing the jazz canon. Most importantly, she has loaned her considerable vocal abilities (honed through multiple decades in distinguished performance spaces and recording situations throughout North America and Europe) in the service of an evolving art form.
