One on One with Dee

There are plenty of exciting things happening between 2011 and 2012. Here are a selected few.

Most of you know how I’m always talking about dreams coming true. Well one of my long-time dreams has come true. I am now based in New York City! The move is something I’ve wanted to do for a while and is finally a reality. I’m looking forward to expanding my horizons!

I have been appointed the Artistic Director for the Frank DeMiero Jazz Festival for 2012. Read the entire announcement here. The featured artists for the 2012 festival are the world renowned New York Voices.

My latest Symphony Pops program, “A Night Out With The Boys”, premiered with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra and received outstanding accolades and standing ovations! The program consists of signature songs performed and recorded by Nat “King” Cole, Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong, and Stevie Wonder.

I’ve had an opportunity to be the vocalist with several great groups of musicians that were specially assembled for concerts in Pennsylvania, New York, and Arizona for two different occasions. The Vista All-Stars, with Houston Person, Ken Peplowski, Shelly Berg, Wycliffe Gordon, David Finck, and Ernie Adams performed in PA and NY; The 34th Annual Paradise Valley Jazz Party: Lewis Nash, Herlin Riley, Jeff Hamilton, Tamir Hendelman, Gerald Clayton, Jodi Prosnick, Eric Schneider, and Houston Person; The Southern Arizona Arts and Cultural Alliance Annual Concert: Dennis MacKrel, Martin Wind, Bill Mays, Steve Wilson, Marvin Stamm, and Steve Davis. Making music with all of these superb musicians was an honour!

My European tour included both standing room only concerts with some of Holland and Belgium’s finest musicians (including Frits Landesbergen, Edwin Corzelius, Johan Clement, and Harry Emmery), and vocal workshops at the Royal Conservatory and the Utrecht Conservatory, both in The Netherlands. Visit my Vocal Clinics for clinic information and quotes.

I’m happy to report that the Dee Daniels Jazz Vocal Scholarship is now in it’s tenth year of assisting up and coming jazz vocalists enrolled in the Jazz Studies Program at Capilano University, North Vancouver, BC, Canada. This program is rated as one of the top, most comprehensive. Jazz studies programs in Canada. I am a firm believer that we professionals have a responsibility.

Stay tuned... I look forward to seeing you at a concert or event in your area.

Dr. Dee
